Introduction to Data Import

This section explains what data you need to provide and how our system processes it to deliver accurate environmental insights.

Data Entry Order (Recommended)

Since your data is interconnected, we recommend following this order when filling out your template:

  1. Packaging (standalone)
  2. Suppliers (standalone)
  3. Products (references suppliers and packaging)
  4. Components (references products and suppliers)

This sequence ensures you have the necessary references when filling dependent sections. For example, when entering a product, you'll need to reference suppliers and packaging you've already defined.

⚠️ This sequence is mandatory for API connections where entities are created separately and need to be linked.

Taxonomy

Some fields use our standardized taxonomy — essentially a controlled vocabulary that ensures data consistency across all data. This helps us accurately categorize and analyze your information.

The taxonomy is updated quarterly, and you can request additions if you don't find what you need for your specific needs.

Framework

When certain non-mandatory data is missing from your submission, our Framework automatically fills gaps with appropriate default values to enable product analysis.

👉 For example, if you provide a product category but don't have detailed component information, we'll apply standard components for that category. This gets replaced with real data when your suppliers respond to our forms.

⚠️ However, some fields like product certifications have no framework defaults — we can only work with information you or your suppliers provide directly.

💡 Note: Your specific data and supplier information will always take priority over Framework defaults, ensuring your analysis becomes more accurate as you provide more details.
